SciDev has been engaged by the Acciona Ferrovial Joint Venture (AFJV) to deliver a water treatment plant to treat the groundwater at the Sydney Olympic Park metro station site for the Sydney Metro West – Central Tunnelling Package.
Todd Placek, Head of Water Technologies, said: “We are very excited to offer our services to the Sydney Metro West Project. Our team is committed to providing the AFJV with a cost-effective and functional solution. We will bring the project team a heavily reduced risk profile for construction water management at the Sydney Olympic Park site during construction. This new contract is another example of how SciDev delivers innovative and cost-effective world-class water treatment solutions”.
Design and construction of the Sydney Metro West – Central Tunnelling Package includes the delivery of twin 11-kilometre tunnels and excavation of five station boxes at The Bays, Five Dock, Burwood North, North Strathfield, and Sydney Olympic Park. SciDev has been engaged to manage the construction water at the tunnel boring machine retrieval point at Sydney Olympic Park. Management of the groundwater from tunneling activities and the footprint available to construct a water treatment plant presents several challenges, including: – Conformance with the technically complex Environmental Protection License requirements. – The water treatment plant is required to treat varying levels of PFAS, nutrients, and other potential contaminants. – Delivering the water treatment plant under a Build, Own, Operate model.
