Water Quality Monitoring Systems
AQUAIQ™
Monitor and Measure Water Quality with Ease
SciDev has developed AquaIQ™, a water quality monitoring system to measure the quality of natural water bodies. The system automatically measures and monitors water quality remotely, sending real-time data to a secure cloud platform for analysis and reporting.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each AquaIQ™ unit is fully self-contained with multi-parameter probes that are secured in the water body. Solar energy powers the AquaIQ™ unit to charge a lithium battery, ensuring continuous operation.
Water quality data is collected and recorded at regular intervals. This data is then sent via wireless modems using 4G/5G technology to the Internet of Things (IoT) platform regularly—this could be every minute, hour, or day depending on the client requirements.
There is also a satellite option for collecting data from the most remote locations. The IoT platform can then analyse the data remotely, and alerts can be set up to let the project team know in real-time when a water quality issue arises.
Capable of operating on solar or battery power, AquaIQ™ is designed for remote operation.
WHAT CAN IT MEASURE?
Each unit has up to six multiparameter probes to assess factors such as turbidity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids, pH levels, oxidation-reduction potential, conductivity, algae, temperature, and more.
These parameters are vital for maintaining the health of aquatic ecosystems and ensuring that water quality standards are met for various uses, including drinking water, recreational activities, and industrial applications.
Turbidity | Dissolved Oxygen | TSS (Total Suspended Solids) |
pH Levels | ORP (Oxygen-reduction Potential) | Dissolved Oxygen |
Conductivity | Algae | Temperature |
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) | Alkalinity | Ammonium |
Chloride | Sodium | Calcium |
Bromide | Chlorophyll-a | Alkalinity |
Nitra | Oil | Phytocyanin |
And other parameters as required.
The SciDev team has been instrumental in enhancing the site’s operations. Their exceptional service, insightful advice, and dedicated support have been invaluable. They have demonstrated remarkable flexibility in managing maintenance, installation, and supply tasks on short notice. Their work on data sets has ensured smooth regulatory compliance for our project. Additionally, their online connectivity projects and Telstra system implementation have significantly improved efficiency, freeing up resources and enhancing reliability. I highly recommend their expertise and technology.”

AQUAIQ™
Why is it better than other water quality monitoring tools?
Real-time data
The system uses the IoT technology to monitor key metrics in real-time, 24 hours a day. The units are powered by solar and battery and can transmit data through a remote telemetry system—ideal for remote locations.
Customisable
The system is designed to measure water quality in accordance with regulatory guidelines and client specifications. Each site can identify the parameters that need to monitor, the number of units they would like to use, and the frequency of the reporting required.
Cost Savings
The units have a self-cleaning function, which means fewer maintenance visits to remote locations on your site are required by the team. This allows for safer, more efficient, sustainable, and profitable operations.
Scalable
The design of AquaIQ™ makes it scalable, enabling it to grow alongside your infrastructure and sites.
Increase Safety

APPLICATIONS
Mining, Construction, Industrial and Commercial Clients use AquaIQ™ to Ensure Compliance and Protect the Environment.
You can use AquaIQ™ in a variety of settings. For example:
For regional clients managing large areas, e.g., mining sites, AquaIQ™ units are placed strategically around the site, sending real-time data back to site managers and alerting them when water quality issues arise.
For urban construction projects, AquaIQ™ monitors stormwater runoff to prevent contaminants from entering local waterways, helping to protect the environment.
Industrial and commercial clients near major waterways can ensure compliance and protect the environment by monitoring water quality upstream and downstream to assess their facility’s impact. This setup helps identify multiple points of contamination, ensuring compliance and protecting local ecosystems.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
How does AquaIQ™ handle power requirements?
AquaIQ™ systems are solar-powered, but also have backup power options, such as 350V batteries. These systems are designed to be off-grid, ensuring that they can function independently in remote locations.
How do you handle system maintenance or troubleshooting?
AquaIQ™ allows users to put the system into maintenance mode remotely if needed. However, in the case of physical maintenance—like turning the system off or recalibrating probes—you would need to visit the site. If probes require maintenance or data quality issues arise, AquaIQ™ provides access to raw data logs so users can troubleshoot issues and ensure system accuracy.
What happens if an "event" is detected?
If AquaIQ™ detects an event (e.g., an abnormal change in turbidity or other parameters), it logs the data for further analysis. Events could be caused by factors like spills, changes in the environment, or even algae growth that impacts probes. AquaIQ™ users are notified immediately, and the data is reviewed to confirm whether it’s a true event or a false alarm caused by environmental factors.
Can AquaIQ™ be customised to meet my specific needs?
Absolutely! AquaIQ™ offers customizable features that allow you to adjust the system to your unique water quality monitoring requirements. Whether you need to monitor specific parameters or set up tailored alerts, AquaIQ™ can be adapted to fit your needs.
How easy is it to integrate AquaIQ™ into my existing systems?
AquaIQ™ is designed for ease of integration. The platform is compatible with most existing water quality monitoring equipment, and our team provides support during the setup process to ensure a seamless transition. Whether you’re upgrading from manual checks or integrating with other digital systems, AquaIQ™ is easy to implement.
Can AquaIQ™ be used for remote water quality monitoring?
Yes! AquaIQ™ is perfect for remote monitoring. Its cloud-based platform and iot telemetry system allows you to track water quality data from any location, making it ideal for sites that are inaccessible or located far away. You can view real-time data, receive alerts, and manage compliance from anywhere.
