Following the benchmark success in the carbonate-rich Eagle Ford, SciDev validated the CatChek® framework in the complex, clay-rich siliciclastic formations of the Anadarko Basin (SCOOP/STACK). This comparative study utilized a data set of 51 treated wells against 414 untreated offsets to provide field-scale statistical significance for operators looking to overcome water blocking.
Navigating the Woodford & Meramec's Complexities
Unlike carbonate plays, the Woodford and Meramec are characterized by high quartz and substantial clay fractions. These mineralogies are prone to “water blocking,” where fracturing fluids become trapped in the nano-pore matrix. This mechanism restricts hydrocarbon flow and reduces the Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) of the asset.
The Multi-Functional Solution: CatChek®
To mitigate these effects, SciDev deployed CatChek®, a Multifunctional Surfactant System (MSS) to induce a wettability shift within the reservoir. This tailored framework utilized cationic stabilization to neutralize negative clay charges, reducing Capillary Suction Time (CST) by 66.5%. By altering the surface energy to induce spontaneous imbibition the system “wicks” fluids into the matrix, effectively displacing trapped hydrocarbons. For operational consistency, the system featured a hydration bridge designed for integration with proximal wet sand operations ensuring uniform distribution across the interval.
Measurable Results & Economic Impact
The application of CatChek® resulted in documented performance increases across all key metrics compared to the 414 untreated offsets. While initial production showed immediate gains, the data reveals a continual expansion of the performance gap over time.
As shown in the quarterly breakdown, the divergence between treated and untreated wells increased at every measurement interval. This sustained improvement highlights the long-term efficacy of the CatChek® system in maintaining fracture conductivity and reservoir access. By managing surface energy to maintain an enhanced production trajectory, the treated wells delivered:
- Production: +14.2% average IP Uplift
- Longevity: +51.7% Cumulative BOE at 12-Month
- Recovery: +26.7% EUR Improvement
- Economic Impact: $390,000 in Monthly Revenue Per Well (Based on $70/BBL)
