Today for World Environment Day, we partnered with Clean Up Australia and took to local Toongabbie Creek to play our part in providing incremental change to #beatplasticpollution and mitigate plastic waste in the environment. We collected 8 bags of rubbish with an array of plastics, recyclables and miscellaneous materials leftover from flooding, lining the sides of the creek and the trees.
The world is being inundated by plastic. More than 400 million tonnes of plastic are produced every year, half of which is designed to be used only once. Of that, less than 10 per cent is recycled with an estimated 19-23 million tonnes ending up in lakes, rivers and seas. Today, plastic clogs our landfills, leaches into the ocean and is combusted into toxic smoke, making it one of the greatest threats to the planet.
As leaders in Environmental Solutions, we believe that together, we can play our part in beating plastic pollution.
